alterations : This alternate version of the horror classic Pet Sematary seeks to enhance one of the best film adaptations of Stephen King's work by making it darker, scarier, and more faithful to the tone of the book. Over 60 edits were made to achieve this effect. Nine minutes of footage were cut, drastically shifting the film's overall tone. Moments of humor were removed, and Pasco's ghost was toned down, making him scarier and less comical. Some scenes were reedited, others entirely cut, while some special effects were dialed back or altered. Unnecessary dialogue that didn't fit the tone was excised, and the ending was changed. A few scenes were also color-corrected, and a new 5.1 audio mix was created, featuring different sound effects and music cues.
Note : this alternate cut is a 2025 remastered and slightly revised edition of the one already released in 2017.
